Phoebe Beard examines symbols and systems of power, specifically language associated with colonisation and community. Folklore, cemeteries and architectural ruins are ideas that inform Phoebe’s notion of power and place, exploring these concepts through drawing, printmaking, sculpture and film. Moving between NARRM/Melbourne and Dja Dja Wurrung Country Phoebe develops artworks based on location and lineage, discussing her own connection to land through site-specific artworks and installations. Travelling around Australia Phoebe has exhibited with Sawtooth ARI, Visual Bulk ARI, Sister Gallery and Watch This Space.
