Phoebe Beard is an artist and curator based in NARRM/Melbourne. Her multidisciplinary practice is informed by the theory and practice of printmaking. Using commercial print material and cartography as stimulus for all site-specific art installations and curatorial projects, Phoebe aims to discuss the social and environmental impact of mark making in Australia. Transposing each line on a page Phoebe uses language associated with planning and development to subvert ideas of home, destabilising commercial and colonial ideas of occupation. Phoebe's most recent curatorial project titled 'Gridlock' investigates land clearing in the North West region of Victoria. The project will culminate in an exhibition with four artists from South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria during 2020. Phoebe Beard is a current member of Sunshine Print Artspace and works at Incinerator Gallery and Tarrawarra Museum of Art.
